Demystifying Urban Forest Ordinances from Policy to Practice
Thanks to Bartlett Tree Experts – our Exclusive Learning Series Partner!
Urban forest ordinances aren’t just technical paperwork—they’re the legal backbone that shapes planning, management, and long-term program success. Join UCFS for a dynamic workshop that demystifies ordinance language and gives you the tools you need to shape resilient, future-ready tree care policy.
Demystifying Urban Forest Ordinances from Policy to Practice Workshop is a 90-minute interactive session, we’ll dive into the new ordinance assessment tool from Arbor Day Foundation, explore best practices outlined new in UCFS’s Accreditation Standards, and get-real world guidance and feedback from industry leaders.
Small, facilitated breakout groups will give you time to dig into local challenges, compare approaches with peers, and walk away with actionable next steps. If you need clarity, confidence, and a roadmap for strengthening your city’s tree ordinance, this workshop is your launch point.
The workshop builds upon the December Learning Series, which introduced a practical approach to identifying the unique priorities, conditions, and characteristics that shape local urban forestry policies. Together, these sessions equip you with the tools for developing or updating tree ordinances that reflect best practices and local conditions.
At the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:
- Evaluate municipal tree ordinances using an assessment tool and identify opportunities for strengthening ordinance language and alignment with local governance structures.
- Apply best practices standards to strengthen cohesive, resilient, and well-managed urban forestry programs.
- Develop actionable strategies —informed by peer feedback—for drafting and updating ordinances that strengthen municipal forestry programs.
This workshop webinar is approved for 1.5 ISA CEUs.
For participants seeking the ISA Urban Forest Professional credential, this workshop covers topics in Domain 4 and the UCFS Accreditation Program, Standard 2.
